Nurse Practitioner Care

A PERSONALIZED APPROACH TO YOUR HEALTH

Our Nurse Practitioner provides comprehensive, evidence-based medical care with a focus on women’s health, men’s health and preventive care.

Her approach combines conventional medical care with functional medicine and root-cause principles. Your care may include laboratory testing, diagnostic investigation, prescription medications, hormone therapy, nutrition and lifestyle strategies, supplementation and ongoing monitoring, depending on your individual needs.

As a Nurse Practitioner, she is able to order and interpret diagnostic testing, diagnose medical conditions, prescribe medication and treatment, provide hormone therapy, and coordinate specialist care when needed.

  • Men’s health

  • Hormonal health

  • Thyroid and metabolic health

HOW CAN A NURSE PRACTITIONER HELP ME?

You may be experiencing fatigue, hormonal changes, changes in weight or body composition, brain fog, disrupted sleep, changes in mood or libido, or simply feel that something is different.

Symptoms rarely exist in isolation. Hormones, thyroid function, inflammation, metabolism, cardiovascular health, genetics, nutrition, sleep, stress and lifestyle can all influence how you feel.

During your appointment, your Nurse Practitioner takes the time to understand your symptoms alongside your health history, goals, laboratory results and diagnostic imaging. Together, this information helps guide further investigation and a personalized plan of care.

She has a particular interest in supporting patients through hormonal changes including perimenopause, menopause, postpartum and andropause, as well as fertility and preconception care.

A NOTE ABOUT OHIP

Nurse Practitioner consultations at Kawartha Holistic are private, fee-for-service appointments and are not covered by OHIP. Most eligible laboratory and diagnostic investigations ordered by your Nurse Practitioner are covered by OHIP.

Acupuncture

WHAT IS ACUPUNCTURE?

Acupuncture is a treatment modality used within Traditional Chinese Medicine.

Acupuncture points also have specific anatomical relationships with the nervous system. By stimulating these points we can influence the musculoskeletal and nervous-systems both locally and beyond the area being needled. This process, known as neuromodulation, helps explain how acupuncture can affect pain, muscle function and other physiological processes throughout the body and how it can be used for a wide range of health concerns.

BELOW ARE SOME AREAS OF CLINICAL FOCUS

  • Chronic neck, shoulder, hip, and low back pain

  • Frozen shoulder and rotator cuff injuries

  • Knee pain and hip pain

  • Carpal tunnel and repetitive strain injuries

  • Sciatica and radicular nerve pain

  • Peripheral neuropathy and neuralgia

  • Nerve entrapment syndromes

  • Headaches and migraines

  • TMJ and jaw tension

WOMEN’S HEALTH AND FERTILITY

Acupuncture is also used to support women’s hormonal health and fertility.

Care is offered across the following areas:

∙ Painful or irregular periods

∙ PMS and cycle-related symptoms

∙ Perimenopause and menopause

∙ Fertility, IVF & preconception

Acupuncture may support reproductive health by influencing the nervous system’s regulation of hormonal function, improving circulation to the uterus and ovaries, and modulating the stress response — all of which play a role in cycle health and fertility.

WHAT TO EXPECT DURING YOUR VISIT

Your first visit begins with a detailed health history and functional assessment — including range of motion, strength, and the structures contributing to your symptoms. This allows treatment to address not just where symptoms are felt, but the underlying factors driving them. Every treatment plan is tailored to you, and may include acupuncture, cupping therapy, or moxibustion where appropriate.

Massage Therapy

At Kawartha Holistic, our Registered Massage Therapists take an evidence-informed, clinical approach to your care. They assess dysfunction and treat the muscles, soft tissue and joints of the body to help relieve pain and improve mobility.

Whether you’re recovering from an injury, or looking to improve how your body moves and feels, your treatment is individualized based on your symptoms, health history and goals.

Bowen Therapy

Gentle Touch. Deep Relaxation. Natural Balance.

Bowen therapy, also called Bowenwork or Bowtech, is a form of bodywork or touch therapy. It involves gently stretching the fascia — the soft tissue that covers all your muscles and organs — to promote pain relief and relaxation and is a gentle, non-invasive bodywork technique designed to encourage the body to relax and release tension in order to return to a more balanced state.

The technique is subtle, making it suitable for people who prefer a gentler approach to hands-on therapy.

During your session, gentle rolling movements are applied across specific areas of your body, with short pauses between sets of movements. These pauses allow you to rest and give your body time to respond to the work.

Bowen Therapy does not involve continuous or strong manipulation. The treatment is generally performed through light clothing, and many people find the experience deeply relaxing.

Conditions and concerns people commonly seek Bowen Therapy for include:

• Back pain and sciatica

• Digestive issues

• Earache and TMJ problems

• Migraines and other types of headaches

• Fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome

• Hip, knee, ankle, and foot problems

• Neck and shoulder problems (including frozen shoulder)

• Groin pain, pelvic tilt, and uneven leg length

• Respiratory problems

• Lymphatic drainage

• RSI, carpal tunnel and tennis elbow

• Sports and other traumatic injuries

• Nervous system regulation

Holistic Nutrition

Take the guesswork out of healthy eating with personalized nutrition support designed around your individual needs, lifestyle, preferences, and goals. Every person is different, which is why your nutrition plan is customized to fit your routine, food preferences, schedule, and dietary needs.

As part of your service, you’ll receive a customized meal plan with practical, balanced meal ideas that make healthy eating easier and more manageable. Whether you’re looking to improve your everyday nutrition, establish healthier eating habits, or feel more confident about what to eat, your plan provides a clear and personalized approach you can realistically follow.

Cupping Therapy

Cupping is a traditional therapy used to help relieve muscle tension, improve circulation, and support recovery in areas of pain or tightness.

During treatment, glass cups are placed on the skin to create suction. This lifts the superficial tissue and increases local blood flow, which may help reduce pain, and improve mobility.

Temporary marks may appear where the cups are placed; these are painless and typically fade within a few days.
